Avanamkulam Subrahmanya temple

This temple was earlier thought to be a Subrahmanya temple. We encountered various roadblocks and difficulties in the restoration process. Avanamkulam Subrahmanya temple is an ancient Hindu temple at Edachalam village in Kuttipuram in the Malappuram district of Kerala which was destroyed during the invasion of Tipu Sultan. The temple is several centuries old and has been lying in ruins ever since.

The people of the locality started the restoration of this temple in 1988 but couldn’t complete it due to lack of resources. Even today they worship the feet of the Deity BalaSubrahmanya which is the only remains after the idols was cutoff to pieces by invading forces.

UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust has undertaken to complete the restoration and revive worship at this ancient temple.

The entire temple complex consist also of Srikrishna , Ayyappa and Bhadrakali temples which were destroyed during the invasion of Tipu Sultan. The Subrahmanya temple is being restored along with the three other temples.

The entire temple complex was in ruins for at least two centuries. The temple compound were later used for slaughter purposes by non believers.

Many attempts were made by devotees for past many decades for restoration of the temple. The efforts were getting stalled due to unfortunate accidents and events.

New Beginnings

The temple ruins were found and documented by UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust as part of the efforts to restore 300 ancient temples in ruins.

Astrological calculations via Devaprashnam by Brahmasree Sudheer Namboodhiri, former Chief Priest of Sabarimala temple showed presence of certain influences made to stall the revival of this temple. During the calculation and reinspection it was found that the broken Vigraha for whom the Garbagriha was being constructed is that of Srikrishna. Hence it was decided to use the present Garbagriha for Srikrishna.

Corrective measures taken to sanctify land and remove certain influences

  1. MahaGanapathy Homam
  2. Ghananadhi Shudhi kriya
  3. Adbhuta Shanti kriya
  4. Aparadha Kshamapanam

and certain other kriyas were done to sanctify the land and help in the restoration of the temple.

5 July, 2023

The ceiling work of Avanamkulam Subrahmanya temple in Malappuram is going on. Devotees tried for some three decades for restoration of this destroyed temple, each time it got stalled due to accidents and physical harm to those involved. When we took over, during prasna chintanam it became clear that marana kriyas were done on the temple compound to cause death, and Arab occult practices were regularly being done to stall the revival of the temple. This is one reason why not everybody will be able to reclaim temples, there are so many evil forces which try to stall the work somehow.  Our position has been to just paralyse and remove the negative influences, then sanctify the land.

29 December, 2023

Bhagawati Sewa was conducted at the Avanamkulam Subrahmanya temple in Malappuram. Devotees attended in large numbers and lit lamps. All those who gave names were included in the puja. Restoration work to continue. The auspicious lighting of lamps was felt devotional, as the devotees with their pure shraddha lit lamps and all the work in restoring the temple felt wholesome.

Worship of the Great Goddess causes destruction of bhuta and pisacha that brings afflictions. Bhagavati Sewa at Avanamkulam Subrahmanya temple in Malappuram.

The reconstruction of the temple progresses further, and gradually all the details and the construction are coming together. Lord Subrahmanya represents the power of Wisdom while his consorts represent Kriya Shakti and Iccha Shakti.

14 March, 2024

The work on Garbhagriha continues as we try to ensure that nothing is compromised in the revival of our Subrahmanya Temple.

This temple is part of the #ReclaimTemples project in Kerala to rebuild 300 ancient Hindu Heritage temples that are lying in ruins for decades and centuries. We believe the project will strengthen the society and along with their social, economic and cultural prosperity.

But to ensure the steady revival by following all the rituals, we require your support through donations. It is our heartfelt request to take a moment to think about the injustice which has occurred without deities because of the roughness and history which very very few people acknowledge. We need to retell history as it has been with pros and cons of the era. Our team is trying its best to work day and night to maintain the projects with only one motive to RECLAIM TEMPLES.

To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already

achieved, but at what he aspires to.
