Kottappadam Srirama temple
Para SreeRama temple in Pattithara Panchayat in Palakkad Kerala was destroyed during the invasion of Kerala by Tipu Sultan. The idol of Lord Sriram is now found cut into pieces.
UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust has undertaken to restore this ancient tempe and revive worship of Lord SriRam. The people of the village has been praying for decades for restoration of this temple.
The first stage is the construction of temporary Garbagriha where the Lord Srirama idol will be shifted to during the restoration of the temple. The old Garbagriha will be dismantled and reworked after that.
The restoration of the temple will cause a revival of Dharma as all devotees and families in the village take part in the various rituals and stages involved in reviving the SriRama temple. Would appeal to devotees all over world to contribute towards restoration of the temple. We are looking to complete the project in four months.
This temple is part of the #ReclaimTemples project in Kerala to rebuild 300 ancient Hindu Heritage temples that are lying in ruins for decades and centuries. We believe the project will strengthen the society and along with their social, economic and cultural prosperity.

The details regarding the type of worship and construction of temple was discussed and clarified during the Devaprashna
Temple plan and design
The temple plan and design was entrusted to noted scholar in Shilpashastras, Sri Sadanandan Achary. The temple will be restored as per the design made by him.
Balalaya Pratishta
The next stage in restoration was shifting the Deity from ruined Garbagriha to a temporary Garbagriha called Balalaya where the Deity will be worshiped till the restoration of temple is complete. This ritual was complete on 22 November 2019.

The restoration work has started after the Balalaya Pratishta. The Garbagriha has been dismantled completely. The temple will be restored after strengthening the foundation. The original stones will be reused wherever feasible and broken stones will be replaced.
UPDATES:
The foundation and base of Garbagriha completed, next stage started
The Shilanyas ceremony of the Garbagriha was on 11 Dec 2019. The prayers and Pujas were done and the restoration work started with the placing of the stone. The old structure was completely dismantled and is being restored with a new stone foundation as the earlier foundation was found to be shaky. Also as the temple was lying in low lying area prone to water logging, we have increased the height of the foundation of the temple. This will ensure that the water will not seep into Garbagriha during the monsoons.
The earlier stones were reused for the base of Garbagriha which is the portion above the foundation. The stones which were missing and broken was replaced. Further polishing of the stones will be undertaken after the structure is complete.
The next stage is the construction of the sidewalls of the Garbagriha and then ceiling. The work started with placing the stone door frames of the Garbagriha on 13 Feb 2020 after the prayers and pujas. The restoration of the temple has brought a visible change in the village as people started assembling at the temple every week and do Namajapa. This has strengthened the society and this will bring social and spiritual benefit to every individual.
We are looking to complete the construction in another 90 days. We are able to undertake such restoration work only due to support we receive from society and generous persons like you.
Walls and ceiling completed
The restoration of the ancient Srirama temple is proceeding well and the work of Garbagriha is nearing completion. The temple was lying in ruins for centuries ever since it was destroyed during the invasion of Tipu Sultan. There is no doubt that it is your support that made the revival possible and brought great positivity in the community.
Structural works over, beautification works remain
We are very happy to share that the structural works of the Garbagriha of Kottappadam Srirama temple is over and beautification works are ongoing. The lockdowns and heavy rains have delayed the work, but we are trying to finish the restoration at the earliest. Polishing of the stones will be done once all other works are complete.
Also we are happy to share news that a committee has been formed with all the devotees in the village for administration of the temple, once the restoration is complete. The devotees have also resolved to jointly commission a new Vigraha for Lord Sriram as the original Vigraha has been broken down completely.
Restoration of Garbagriha is nearing completion
