Keezhsserry Mahavishnu Temple in Pattithara Panchayat, Palakkad, once hosted large festivals but lay in ruins for decades, part of its Garbhagriha collapsed and overtaken by wild growth. Local devotees had tried to restore it but could not for lack of resources — this was the eighth ancient temple taken up by UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust in its project to restore 300 ruined temples.
The old Garbhagriha was dismantled and Shilanyas conducted on 21 October 2020, with door frames installed by 11 December 2020. Restoration continued through the pandemic, with artisans housed near the site to keep work going, and the Garbhagriha — a structure with a separate sanctum enclosure within it — was completed along with its ceiling, stonework, and the Namaskara Mandapam in front.
The temple well was restored, and the temple was formally handed over to its devotee committee at a function on 14 July 2022, widely covered in regional media.
