Kakkara Mahavishnu Temple, in a village in Kannur district, is under revival by UgraNarasimha Devaswom. A Devaprashnam was held to guide the temple's renovation, and construction of the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) is now complete.
Digging the temple's sacred well proved difficult after hard granite layers were struck below ground. Rather than shift to an alternate spot, the decision was made to continue at the original, correct vastu location, blasting through the granite to complete it. Work on the Thidappally (temple kitchen) and the well is now in its final stages, and construction of the Nalambalam, the outer enclosure around the sanctum, is under way.
Maha Ganapathi Homams are performed periodically at the temple under the guidance of the Tharananellur Thanthri, drawing devotees to the site even as restoration continues around them.
Offerings marked "contact for current rate" vary by season and are confirmed by the temple office at the time of booking.
