Avanamkulam Srikrishna Temple is an ancient temple at Edachalam village in Kuttipuram, Malappuram, destroyed during the invasion of Tipu Sultan and left in ruins for close to two centuries. It is one of four temples — alongside Bhadrakali, Subrahmanya, and Vanashasta — being revived together at the Avanamkulam complex.
The sanctum here was originally being built as a Subrahmanya shrine. A Devaprashnam conducted by Brahmasree Sudheer Namboodhiri, a former chief priest of Sabarimala, identified the broken vigraha as Srikrishna instead, and the fundraiser and sanctum were retitled accordingly. The same Devaprashnam also revealed the presence of Bhadrakali in her fierce form, Ayyappa, and Subrahmanya, alongside two sacred groves for snake deities — leading the Devaswom to redesign the site as a four-temple complex rather than a single shrine.
Periodic Maha Ganapathi Homams are performed at the temple as restoration continues, most recently on 26 July under the guidance of Thanthri Sri Kallurmana Sankaranunni. The Devaswom is targeting completion and punah pratishta (re-consecration) during a coming Uttarayana.
Offerings marked "contact for current rate" vary by season and are confirmed by the temple office at the time of booking.
