Avanamkulam Bhadrakali temple

Avanamkulam Bhadrakali temple is an ancient Hindu temple at Edachalam village in Kuttipuram in the Malappuram district of Kerala. The entire temple complex was destroyed during the invasion of Tipu Sultan. The presence of a fierce Goddess was felt during the Devaprashnam rituals at the temple and it has been decided to construct a temple for the Goddess and worship Her.

UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust has resolved to restore this temple and has started the various process associated with temple restoration.

Updates:

6 January, 2023

The restoration of the Bhadrakali temple was started, it will be after 250 years that the temple will be revived for the devotees.

May the Godhead bless our intent into making this a success. We also request your cooperation by donating with the best of your ability. We seek your support because nothing is possible without the devotees.

25 July, 2023

After consultations with the pandits and by their guidance of Vastu Shastra along with the help of architects specialised in temple building we have come up with the restoration map of the temple.

There will also be an open Garbagriha with no roof and walls, as the Goddess is forest Devi.

And the complete structure will be made with granite stones.

Our organisation firmly believes in transparency to the public and its supporters, we feel that the temple belongs to the devotees and they are integral part of this revival movement.

It is the bhakti and shraddha of the bhakts which influences and motivates us into reclaiming our rich heritage and culture.

Bhagwati Sewa was conducted at Cholakkara Durga Temple, one of the other projects going on for the restoration.

The form of Goddess Bhadrakali was also worshipped there by the locals residing there with proper rituals. Since Durga and Bhadrakali are different forms but the same deity, we have taken this initiative to share this event with our followers and devotees.

Granite stones for Avanamkulam Bhadrakali Temple have arrived at the temple premises.

They were carried from the workshop where these stones are polished and carved, and have been successfully transported at the site.

The revival process is gradually progressing and the temple will be made out of complete granite stones.

The foundation work of the temple finally begins, these measurements will be the future of the temple where the temple will stand still. Such an important process is being conducted.

The Garbagriha would be open and completely covered in granite stones. The earlier temple plan was changed for a bigger Vigraha of the deities so as to suit the Divinity found at the location.

Additionally more granite stones are being brought at the temple site. Our team strives to increase the pace of work by staying consistent.

The granite in the shot below can be seen to be kept down from the career by the olden methods. Placing a wooden log and by tying ropes at both the end of the granite slab, it is pulled down, also the team ensures that there is no wastage or breaking of the granites.

Bhadrakali is considered to be a ferocious deity, with the capability of rage in nature to destroy evil, such deity is more powerful and requires specific attention in some areas while ensuring the construction of the temple, and this the reason, Garbagriha is kept open.

The temple complex will evolve into a major spiritual centre in Malappuram in the span of next twelve years.

The pedestals for Goddess Bhadrakali are ready as of 2 April, 2024.

Next we will be commissioning the Vigraha for the deities, the Vigraha would be around 5 ft  and in the form of Ugrabhava.

We seek your constant support and valuable suggestions through the form of active donations and visiting the sites, whichever is convenient.

With the help of active involvement, we together can rebuild the temple at a faster pace.

As the Goddess has been lying as ruins for around 250 years, such gross fact is very disturbing and requires immediate restoration, many such projects are being undertaken by the organisation.

We will strive our way into reviving the lost culture and heritage, and we together can surely make a difference.
